With precious metals so often the target of thieves, even the deceased aren’t safe, as evidenced by a recent incident at Dale Memorial Park.

Sometime before 4 p.m. on Nov. 8, someone reported that property had been stolen from the cemetery, which is in the 10200 block of Newby’s Bridge Road. A spokesperson for the cemetery said approximately 300 bronze vases, valued at about $130 each, were stolen from grave markers. They were later recovered at a local foundry and put back into place.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and declined further comment. Anyone with information about this crime should contact the Chesterfield County Police Department at 748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 748-0660 or text the code tip699 with the tip and send to 274637 (CRIMES).
