Bob Olsen defends himself

In response to Sarah Leeke’s [Nov. 10] letter to the editor, obviously Ms. Leeke needs to dig a little deeper into her Bible: “Judge not, that ye be judged” [and] “For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged, and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.”

I have never met Ms. Leeke, nor remember her speaking to any board of supervisors or at any other governmental meeting. As a wise Native American once said, “Walk a mile in my moccasins before you criticize me.”

Where was her voice in 1991 when I was chairman of the Shrink-Swell Soil Committee that tried to get help for the many homeowners losing their homes due to poor construction? Where was she during the 12 years I served as chairman of the Building Code Appeals Board? What was Ms. Leeke doing from 1983-1993 when I was coaching T-ball and serving as scoutmaster and assistant scoutmaster in Chesterfield?

We each can serve our fellowman in many ways. Can we do better? Always.
Bob Olsen
