Special needs camp overlooked

Your May 11 edition of the Chesterfield Observer included a page highlighting the summer camps offered by Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation. Your list did not include a very important camp: Summer Adventures.

Summer Adventures provides an exploration of various leisure activities for young adults ages 13-25 with intellectual disabilities and/or other disabilities. Emphasis is on physical and leisure skill development and includes art, music, games, nature awareness, social interaction and community outings.

Please do not overlook our young people with disabilities who enjoy the summer just as their non-disabled counterparts.
