Extension service offers free seminars

The Chesterfield County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension is offering a series of free lawn and landscape seminars this fall. From learning how to care for plants in winter to figuring out how to prevent weeds, novice and experienced gardeners will benefit from these seminars.

• Cool Season Lawn Care. Thursday, Sept. 6, Central Library. Learn which tasks to perform in the fall for a lush green lawn.

• Lawn Weeds and How to Control Them. Saturday, Sept. 8, Chester Library; Monday, Sept. 17, Central Library. Learn to identify and manage weeds in this workshop. Bring samples to identify.

• Preparing the Garden for Winter. Wednesday, Sept. 12, Midlothian Library. Discover how to put plants to “bed” for the winter.

• Pruning. Thursday, Sept. 20, Central Library. Learn proper technique to encourage beautiful form in plants.

• Want Flowers Year Round? Saturday, Sept. 22, Midlothian Library. Discover which bulbs to plant this fall, and how to plant them.
