CRIME WATCH

Officers waste no words in incident reports
Michael Buettner

Police officers aren’t rated on the writing style they display in filling out their incident reports, but it would be hard to get any more concise than this description of a break-in around 8 a.m. on April 15 in the 13600 block of Kingsmill Road in Salisbury:

“Unknown suspect(s) pried the exterior garage door open, breaking the door frame. Once inside the garage, suspect(s) pried open an interior door to the kitchen and were confronted by the victim’s dog. Suspect(s) then left the residence.”

Another officer did a nice job of tersely summarizing a somewhat complicated sequence of events that occurred around 8 p.m. on April 15 at the Citgo station in the 2700 block of East Hundred Road in the Enon area:

“Clerk reported the first suspect entered the store, walked around, and then left, only to return with the second suspect. The first suspect approached the clerk and demanded all the money. When she hesitated, the second suspect displayed a knife and repeated the demand. Upon receiving the cash, the suspects drove off” in an unspecified vehicle.
