Construction sites draw thieves’ attention

Ah, spring, and a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of making an illegal profit on stolen building materials, tools or anything else he can get his hands on.

Chesterfield County’s relatively lively market for new homes has been a bright spot in the local economy of late. It appears that some thieves see it as an opportunity for their own economic advancement:

• Boyd Homes reported on April 12 that someone had stolen copper from one of its homes under construction in the 14400 block of Sulphur Springs Terrace in the Sycamore Springs at Southbend development.

• Ryan Homes reported on April 25 that unknown suspect(s) stole miscellaneous items from one of its work sites in the 10700 block of Ethens Mill Road in the Brooks Chapel subdivision.

• A known suspect stole miscellaneous items on April 26 from a Main Street Homes construction site in the 500 block of Paddle Creek Drive in Brookcreek Crossing.

• Also on April 26, Wright Contracting reported that miscellaneous items were stolen from a storage trailer at a work site in the 7400 block of Mangrum Drive in Magnolia Green.
