Neighboring churches hit by thieves

The police haven’t said whether two recent crimes were perpetrated by the same person or persons, but a pair of churches roughly a tenth of a mile apart were victims of nearly identical break-ins on one recent evening.

• The locks were cut around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 17 on a storage trailer at a construction site at Huguenot Road Baptist Church in the 10500 block of Huguenot Road. Miscellaneous items were reported stolen.

• The hasp holding a lock on a storage trailer at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in the 10700 block of Huguenot Road was broken around 6 p.m. the same day. It had not been determined whether any items were missing at the time the report was filed.

In other crimes:

Avon Park (Robious Road) – The lock on

a storage container at a construction site in the 10200 block was broken on Dec. 18. Miscellaneous items were reported stolen.

Bon Air Terrace (Robindale Road) – Two suspects got out of a vehicle and approached a resident as he was walking toward his house in the 1500 block around 12:29 a.m. on Dec. 17. The suspects displayed a handgun and ordered the resident to get down on the ground. A suspect hit the resident in the head with the handgun, and the two suspects took cash, electronic devices and miscellaneous items from him. The suspects got back into their vehicle, which a third suspect then drove away.

Brentwood (Pawpans Court) – A heat pump was reported stolen from a house in the 4800 block on Dec. 11.

Chesswood (Plum Circle) – Firearms were reported stolen on Dec. 18 from a home in the 9500 block.

Clay Pointe (Parrish Branch Road) – The passenger window of a vehicle parked at a home in the 5000 block was broken on Dec. 17. Cash, electronic devices and miscellaneous items were reported stolen.

Dorsey Road – Unknown suspect(s) drove into the backyard of a home in the 8800 block on Dec. 19 and stole a leaf blower.

Ettrick (James Street) – An unspecified vehicle was reported stolen from a home in the 20800 block on Dec. 18.

Falling Creek Apartments (Marina Drive) – A resident of the 2400 block was going to his vehicle to leave for work around 5 a.m. on Dec. 19 when he saw an unknown male suspect approaching and pointing a gun at him. The resident swung his lunch cooler at the suspect’s hand and knocked the gun to the ground. A second suspect appeared and knocked the resident to the ground and started punching and kicking him. The suspects rummaged through the resident’s pockets and stole cash, electronic devices and miscellaneous items.

Glen Oaks (Glen Oaks Drive) – Unknown suspect(s) tried unsuccessfully to enter a home in the 10300 block on Dec. 20 by pushing a windowpane out of the rear French doors to reach the door lock inside. The suspect(s) successfully gained entry by forcing open a door from the garage into the house. Electronic devices, jewelry and miscellaneous items were reported stolen.

Harrowgate Road – A shed at a home in the 16900 block was entered on Dec. 19 by unknown suspect(s) who pried the door open. A blue Yamaha all-terrain vehicle and a yellow Yamaha mini bike were removed but were found nearby.

Hopkins Road – Unknown suspect(s) broke into two vending machines at Hancock’s Service Station in the 5600 block on Dec. 18. Cash was reported stolen.

Kingsland Commercial Park (Metro Court) – The padlock on a shed at Metro Engines and Transmissions was cut on Dec. 17 and an unsuccessful attempt was made to pry open the garage bay door. Miscellaneous items were reported stolen.

Longhouse Lane – A bomb threat was called in to Matoaca High School in the 17700 block around 7 a.m. on Dec. 20.

Midlothian Turnpike – Unknown suspect(s) broke the glass front door of Beauty World in the Pocono Crossing Shopping Center in the 10400 block on Dec. 18. Miscellaneous items were reported stolen.

Orchardhill (Autumnleaf Drive) – A heating/air conditioning unit was reported stolen from a home in the 5400 block on Dec. 9.

Windsor Forest (Winfore Court) – Electronic devices and miscellaneous items were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked at a home in the 1700 block on Dec. 14.
