James River cleanup set for Sept. 13

The James River Advisory Council and its partners will hold the 15th annual James River Regional Cleanup on Sept. 13, kicking off the first James River Week.

This year’s cleanup will include sites from Lynchburg downstream to Newport News, incorporating significant nontidal and tidal portions of the river. Cleanup activities run from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., and lunch will be provided to all volunteers.

Online registration for the cleanup is open at jrac-va.org, where volunteers can sign up and choose from a list of sites to go to on the day of the cleanup. For more information, visit jrac-va.org or call 717-6688.
